Connecting radions 1st time

I don't have a laptop, and my desktop is 20' away. I do have an iPad.

Should I, take the radions into the computer room and register them and log on? Then use the iPad to program them at tank side using the USB adaptor?

Can I use the iPad USB connectors to log in, register, and control them?

Or do I need to buy a 20' USB cable?

I'm confused already and they're still in the box. Wish I were more tech savvy, but it's not the reality.

I just don't want to mount everything up only to realize I need to pull it all down. I also don't want to set everything up in the computer room only to realize I could have done it all at tank side with the iPad.

Sorry for the dumb questions.....it's embarrassing :o

I got the answers I needed. I've been trying to piecemeal everything together but if looks like I'm going to save myself a heap of trouble by just setting up my Apex with WXM, and Radions all at once. I'm thinking the 20' USB cable might be necessary unless I just go buy a laptop, which isn't in the budget.

Simplest thing to do for now would be to temporarily move your desktop PC over next to the tank and load the settings you create through EcoSmart Live to your lights and move it back, the computer only needs to be attached while you tweak settings in live mode to your liking and then load into lights.

I ended up loading one of the "canned" programs under natural into my lights with acclimation set until Neptune releases their Fusion web application, I have a neptune Jr with a WXM module otherwise I would have used a reef link to control the lights, the reef link gives you wireless control of lights (and soon EcoTech pumps) through EcoTech Live.

check out this link for a short Radion Software Utility Setup Tutorial, I'm sure the EcoTech people would be able to help you better than I can with questions on thier products.

Mark Isn't Pascal setting up your Apex for you? He'll be able to get them going thru the WXM Module.
Plus if you just want to see them light up your tank Just plug them in and use the buttons.
