Connecting to PC please help..!

I am having a lot of trouble trying to connect the profilux to my pc. I went on the website and downloaded PC-Software version 4.0.8.1 that didn't work so I tried to download 4.0.5.0 because that's what my friend downloaded and is using. I have a profilux II plus. When I opened both programs and try to "connect" it says that I am unable to. I am connected using the usb cable. Sorry this is all very new, and even more confusing. Thanks in advance for your help.

Under Communication/ connection, you will have to use the device manager in window find the usb driver for the GHL

when I click on device manager and manually click on the usb port that it is in it wants to install the driver and tells me that it needs software...?

thats correct so install the profilic USB driver located in the download section on www.aquariumcomputer.com.

I understand fully. Everytime I try and post a "new tread/topic" on the aquariumcomputer website it says" you don't have rights to access this page etc.... I am more than willing to post over there just unable to. Also can you please post a link to the exact download I need, I am not seeing it in there. The only one I think it may be I think says it's for profilux III...?
