Considering a 9005

I am running a 55G LPS/SPS tank, and am considering a 9005. I have a 20G Sump(2 10G Tanks connected with a bulkhead) Anyway, I wanted to replace my current skimmer and was considering the 9005. I was looking to put the skimmer in the first of the 2 10G's, would this work? Basically, hanging the skimmer inside the sump.

Thanks for the help,

Dave

I would go with 9010 instead of 9005 for your setup. After taking into consideration of parts needed for your sump using 9005, the price difference between the two skimmers are not much. Basically, 9010 includes all the necessary parts for sump use and intank use. Also, you will get a stronger pump and larger collection cup.

Hope this helps.

I would go with the 9010, I'm using a 9010 in a 55G LR curing tank. Its the same skimmer as the 9015 just with a shorter collection cup.

Yea.........what COCO and Melbourne said. The best value is the 9010. For your size tank/sump, I wouldnt go with anything less than a 9010. I was also considering the 9010 vs. 9005, BUT my tank is much smaller than yours........38 Oceanic with a 5.5 sump. I got a good deal on a used 9005, or else I would have went with a 9010. Keep in mind if you are going to use the 9005 in the sump, you will also have to purchase a "sump kit" for about $40, making the 9005 and the 9010 VERY close in price.
Good luck..........Herbie
