Considering converting to FOWLR

I have a 300BB reef and I'm on my last try with acros. Everything testable is ok but I'm having little luck. Not to mention having 9000ghp and 1600W of light and a chiller that runs half a day and the need to replace windows due to condensation btwn dual pane glass... and the list goes on...

I grew up in Miami and on the water before I could crawl. I couldnt remember seeing anything coral related but dead 3' brains which were a gold mine for grouper and lobster - until a couple years ago when I got into SW hobby.

So I'll be reading and posting questions on this forum to help me make up my mind up to convert. I'd like grouper, trigger, angel and especially lobsters.

Are there any spiney lobsters that I should avoid or I should seriously consider?

if you get a crazy lobster i believe it has a good chance at survival. ive kept large hermits and shrimp with aggressive triggers. you just have to get large crazy inverts with protection like claws. if your fish gets pinched a few times it will leave the inverts alone.

I think you will like the fish better. I'm not even sure why I started with corals because I've always like fish. And you can definitely keep some big fish.

Depending on the type of fish you keep, you may want to add a substrate of some kind. Nitrates aren't a huge concern with fish.
