It's actually 2 tanks but the short of it is they total 30,000g!! That isn't a typo...

Okay, hold on a second. I watched a video in the thread - hedgedrew, you have a peppermint angel? Like the impossible to find outside of Asia peppermint angel? And it looked like they were in a little tank off your kitchen?

Andrew that's a great question... You need to buy a setup from a LFS that's closing down so you can have a whole system that has a lot of smaller tanks maybe?? It a logistical and timing nightmare in all honesty. You could also look into stuff that research labs and aquaculture facilities use. PentairAES.com sells equipment for large scale setups and have some of these self contained systems I'm referring to. You can request a catalog for free from the website if you wanted to check them out. You can probably find it on their site too, but it's not the most user friendly site. What do you buddies at the Long Island Aquarium suggest?

hedgedrew, sorry if this is a dumb question, but how many fish do you intend to keep? Do you have a local store that you will task to just pick up whatever they can - "This week we found 10 triggers, 50 wrasses, 35 butterflies." I mean, we are talking about hundreds of fish, correct?

He likes fish that most LFS don't carry much and if they do it's only one at a time. Some fish are easier to aquire than others obviously. I would guess that Rufus and Koji are on the list along with many others. The biggest problem Andrew will run into is figuring out the order to add the fish he wants in and what size he wants said fish in. Fish have seasons if you will that they are available... Ie baby bandits start showing up here in a month or so. I'm anxious to what the documentation of this monumental task

My swimming pool is 31,000 gallons. The thought of filling that with fish - so it looks like a tank and not a few random fish - we are talking about SO MANY FISH!
For me it would seem like rare fish would be lost in a 30,000 gallon tank. i'd save those for smaller tanks. If I recall reading about Copps' big tank, he's adding huge numbers of more common fish - anthias, tangs, etc. Adding a $1,000 fish that you might never see....but then again, if you can afford a 30,000 tank, stock the whole thing with rarities.

It is mind blowing to say the least. Think about this you will have a hard time get lets say 20-30 of any fish whether thats Anthias, pyramid butterflies, whatever it may be at the same time from one source. QM is the only place I have seen that literally will stock over 10,000 yellow tangs at one time. Their list changes so much hour to hour its would be difficult to get a large number of anything unless we are talking damsels... All fish but the largest will get lost in the tank no matter what. Judging from his first post about the Conspic on this thread im leaning toward rarer fish

The tank is only, yes only 14k gallons so that's hardly any fish :dance:
