Constantly fighting nutrient issues..

I haven't read your thread. Just saw your topic and your first reply. It's either your sand bed or your live rock. I started over and got a wave maker to keep stuff suspended and a sulphur denitrator and my NO3 is 0. It's one of the 2. I didn't feed heavily and I trided vodka dosing and everything else.

One word: vodka.

Read up on it before dosing. Don't ignore or give up on determing the source but dosing vodka will help. Must not overdose and be patient.

I've put vodka on hold.. My skimmer isn't reliable enough.

You know you need to replace your ASM G3 skimmer because ...

Just curious.

I bought a pre-existing setup.. and didn't put any thought into the existing sump and skimmer setup. The sump isn't baffled, and the height where the skimmer is fluctuates all day. Where my tank is setup doesn't allow for an auto-topoff, so with the sump water level fluctuating through out the day my skimmer has a hard time being efficient.

To combat this, I need to invest in an external skimmer so this is no longer an issue..
