I called Bryan at PurelyH20 and ordered one of his Optima units today. My question is where can a get a "food grade container" to store my water? I was looking at HD at there large garbage cans but cant tell if they are safe for storage.
Thanks Tracy

Garbage cans are safe and work great, I would just rinse it out with vineger and water mixture to get rid of any plastic gases it might release.

does anyone know how long the water will be good in the container. Can I make a bunch and keep it for a month in the container?

Rubbermaid BRUTE garbage can/containers are food grade. Every color except red. I have seen advice not to use other garbage cans/containers. The BRUTE's are thicker walled, better to handle the weight of liquid full.

I agree tis what i use! and you can keep it in there for a while

As the long as the water is areated or has some type of movement, it can last along time.
I have mine in my vat, and it sits in there with a pump and a heater. The water has been in there for months, I do add to it since I use it, Havent had any changes in water quality.

I also use the Rubbermaid Brute cans. I think buying the add on wheel coaster was important for movement of the cans and raising them off the floor.

I actually put bulkheads into the bottom of the cans with a elbow attached to a ball valve that goes to a T in my closed loop. I put in a float valve and attached to the RO unit with a small pump inside for water movement and a heater to keep the temparature close to tank parameters. Makes for easy water changes and top-offs. I use one can just for salt mixing and the other for fresh RO water.
