Continued frustration

Doubledown

In the long list of unhappy occurances for me in this hobby since I moved 8 months ago, I found my recently purchased Peppermint Hog (a replacement of the only fish my fiance wanted to replace after the massive bacterial infection that wiped out 90% of my fish 3 months ago) had jumped to his death yesterday while I was at work. The tank was covered on one half with the acrylic lid that came with the tank and the other side with plastic eggcrate - somehow he managed to get through one of the holes in the eggcrate.

Sometimes I hate this hobby.

Thanks for listening.

Out of all the things that can happen in this hobby, the carpet surfing fish ranks right up at the top. Sorry you lost a nice fish.
I'm going to try something next week that may be good or may put me in the same position. Going to put a 3" plexi lip around the top of my 125, like euro bracing to keep fish in and let the light in too. I'm so tired of the glass tops and egg grate, I really hope this works, but will be gambling with some very nice wrasses to find out. I'll let you know. Nothing worse than finding a beautiful fish DOF.
