Controllable Koralias

I saw on marine depot today that they have a Koralia controller and controllable Koralia pumps for sale. I had been waiting for a controller for the Koralias I currently have (heard there was one in the works) but seeing as the controller is low voltage 12V, I think that went out the window (unless I'm just confused and my current ones are low voltage...at work I can't check).

Any ideas about this?

No big deal either way because I'm not shelling out the $320 clams they want for the controllers, but I was hoping it would be an option in the future.

That looks like it is a different pump. If you look through the rest of marine depot they have 2 kinds of koralias -- the low voltage "controllable" ones, and the regular ones. I don't know for sure -- this is just based on me looking through the website at the descriptions. Remember, I also bumped my head :)

I'm pretty sure all of the controllable pumps are lower DC voltage/higher current. I'm 95% sure the Tunzes are. I'm gonna go check these out!

EDIT: Wow... I'm actually thinking of selling my Aquatronica now and getting an AC3 and their powerhead controller! Its half the price of the Hydor controller, controls 4 pumps instead of just 2, and is VERY flexible (including waves with or without a wavebox ;) )! SCHWEEET!!! Maybe a new goal for the summer. ;)

HUGE thanks for the heads up, Brian!

I dont think the aquasurf works with anything that isnt compatible with a tunze controller. You can ask curt (clp) to be sure, but I dont think it will work with koralias.

Out of the box it won't work, Chuck, but I'm hoping that maybe with an adapter and/or firmware update it may. :) We'll see! There's a thread here that is up in the Neptune forum asking about it. I'm hopefully, if only on the basis that they're both DC. :D

It also seems as though the Tunze is more complex, which seems to me like it could be a simple firmware update and an adapter and you could possibly be in business (assuming two of those pins are straight up power, as this seems to be what the Hydors take [just two pins]). The key to it is possibly finding a pin-out of the Tunze systems... hmmmm... to Google I go. :worried: :reading: :D

Nope... they will not at all be compatible with anything the Tunze stuff is, including the Aquasurf. :(

The controllable Korlias are 12v AC, not DC. Poop!
