Controller options

Yeah Chris, I see it that way also. I really think I am just going to get the ACIII when I can. I have gone this long without one so a little longer won't hurt I guess. I have re-bought enough things in this hobby already.

I have one question about the ethernet connection of the ACIII. Is there something I can plug into it that would make it wireless? We have a wireless router in the other end of the basement but it would be a pain to run a wire to it.

Also, is there much difference in lab grade and standard grade probes? I am seriously thinking of a ACIII with temp, pH, and ORP probes and a DC8.

I don't know about the diff between the probes. I use a standard grade one and it seems to still be working fine after about 9 months of use. I don't have light in my sump, though, so no coraline can grow on it.

Well, I just ordered an ACIII with a DC8, temp probe, and 2 pH probes. I got the extra pH probe to control my calcium reactor. I didn't figure I would really use the ORP probe much. Can't wait till it gets here so I can play wit...... I mean put it to work.

Well, I ordered it from Reef Geek since they had the best price I could find. I got an e-mail today saying it was backordered and should ship out next Tuesday or Wednesday. Oh well, I guess I can wait.

I forgot to mention that I got $15 dollars off due to the delay so I guess that makes up for it.

Do those of you that have the ACIII use the free aquanotes lite or did you buy the full version? I am trying to figure out exactly what the difference is. I will probably try the free version and then buy the other if I find it doesn't do all I want.

Well when u figure out how to use yours let me know I just ordered the Pro with std probes. Did you ever figure how to use it wireless.

I think so. You just have to get a doohicky to plug into the thingamajig. :D It's an wireless converter or somthing like that.

Yeah, that is the doohicky I was looking at. I was thinking of plugging it into the thingamajig. It should work with my wireless whatchimacallit.

Hay Mike the guy from reef geek called me ant told me that the dc 8s on back order but would send me the controller right away so I also ordered a dc 4 hd to get right away. He also told me the pro I ordered was not the III pro but the original pro that they are Clarence out so I had him change the order to the III not the III pro. Which one did you get? Did you get the software?

Good call. The III is a better deal than the plain-vanilla-Pro, IMO. You'll get ethernet, and some other whistles.

So is your equipment room gonna look like this (oregon reef)?

Ah, I thought it was the controller that was backordered. The E-mail said it would be shipped today or tomorrow. Did he tell you when it was expected to arrive? I might call him later if I don't hear anything. I just don't want it to turn into one of those back ordered for eternity things. I ordered this one. .http://www.reefgeek.com/equipment/C..._pH_&_Temp_Probes_&_DC4_HD_by_Neptune_Systems

Crumbletop, that looks a lot like mine already but mine is bigger and a lot cleaner. Seriously though I wish I had a spare room next to my tanks so I could put everything in it. I would like to eventually do an in-wall tank in my basement. Half of it is finished and half isn't. There is a big, bare wall running through the middle.

I need to buy a paint brush and some paint.

and of course where do you order the extra 4 hours a day to keep it that clean.

He said Wed is the ship date for the controller so I am thinking he is getting them today He said Neptune has been slow at sending them out, but I would think they are in route as he seamed confidant they would ship Wed.

That is the extract one I got after he talked to me and I will get the dc8 also when they come in as I will need to control more things with that on the big tank. He said you can have up to 20 so I figured the hd4 for the major power hogs and use the 8 for the other things and if needed latter I will get another 8 to finish it off.

I sent him an e-mail a little while ago and got a response that it had shipped within a few minutes. I can't wait to get it. I'm getting tired of plugging in and unplugging my heater to control the temperature. I can't get a heater that will last more than a month without the thermostat getting stuck.
