If you are on the fence, I'd say pick up a old reefkeeper 2 or ACJR used for $100 ish, use it to run your lights at first, explore what it can do. You will be hooked if you put in a little time setting it up. You'll always be able to sell it for what you paid and just be out shipping.

Also a main issue not just Apex but most controllers seem to have the base set of ph and orp. Both to me are pretty useless and show the lack of keeping up with the times. Dont run ozone than you have very little use for orp. And ph is that redundant it's not funny.

Ph monitoring helps if you are dosing Kalk, or have a calcium reactor.
