controller problem

I have a single controller 7091 with a wye adapter running two 6100s.

They were workng fine and I noticed that the light on the controller was staying on power #2 and not switching back and forth. Both 6100s were running full speed not shutting off and not switching back and forth, just on. I turned the power off and the controller lights began switching back and forth but the units were both still running full time. I moved the input and outputs from channel #1 to channel #2 on the Y adapter unit- no change.

The adjustable power to each powerhead is in working order.

Both units are also on a timer so they run about 12 hrs. per day.

Any ideas?

If the pulse is turned to off this could cause it. As could the photocell not getting enough light or a short in the photocell connector from water or salt creep.

I have the pulse turned up to full and am not using the photo cell.

If something is bad - more likely Y adapter or controller?

Backed everything down to half. Lights on the controller are going back and forth in 2-3 second intervals. I moved the connections back to channel 1 on the wye.

Both powerheads are still on constant.

Suggestions?

So the lights work but the pumps don't pulse? Have you checked that the Y or cables did not get wet? Have you checked by touch and not just sight? It may not be possible to see a difference. Are the top and bottom knobs set to different speeds, one turned completely clockwise and one turned completely counter clockwise? Lastly, is the driver on the pumps set to full power?

Been away for a few days. Lights still blinking back and forth. Everything in a dry spot under the cabinet. I checked the powerheads with my hand to feel for water movement - always on. The top and bottom nobs are set at about the same speed. I am moving one back a little to see if it matters. I assumed that they both turned clockwise, had them each about midway through the blue swish. After backing the top one (power 1) back to about 10 oclock and leaving power #2 at about 3 oclock - each powerhead is now running in a high power/low power mode. I can feel that they are not pushing as hard now part of the time going from 100% to about 50% in 2-3 second intervals.

Driver on pumps are set to full.

That is how it is supposed to work, it pulses between the power you set on those two knobs.
