Controller Question

I have 2 6100s and 2 single controllers. I'm setting up a new tank, 60x36x30, and want to throw the 2 6100s in there. Will the single controllers work well for me if I set them to be opposite each other and just plug them in at the right time, or do I really need a multicontroller?

It isn't quite the same as the multicontroller just because the multicontroller allows alot more like idling one pump while pulsing another or one pump off and another on but it could work.
