Controllers and Monitors

If you can't afford the DC8, the following makes X10 reliable (I use it as well as a DC8)

Attach X10 Controller to a Squid connector.
Attach all X10 Modules to the same Squid Connector

Wala... very reliable X10.

If your controller is far away from where the X10 Controller needs to be for that to happen... use CAT5/CAT5e/CAT6 and Rj11 connectors to connect from the unit to the X10 controller. Mine works over 60ft away like that :eek2: .

If you don't have the tools, bring the cable by my house, I have the crimpers and the connectors, but I am all out of CAT5e.

Take care,

Shane

They also have serial RS232 to USB adapter cables... darned if I know if they would work for such an interface.

The USB to Serial adapter will be assigned a serial COM port in Win XP/2000. I use it all the time when using my laptop to program some routers.

You can get the adapter from Fry's and return it if it doesnt work out for you
