Is it possible to convert 12V computer case fans to plug into a regular household electrical outlet.? I thought I read here that it was but I went to RadioShack and Fry's tonight and at both stores the clerk said it wasn't possible.

If it is possible, what do I need to do it?

Sorry, I tried searching but it's not working for me.

TIA

Possible, and very easy. All you need to do is wire it to a standard 12V wall adapter. I have about 100 spare adapters, all brand new. Do you need them in a hurry? If not I could ship you some pretty cheap, like $5.00 a piece + USPS.

Yeah, I need them right away but if I can't find them knowing the correct name I'll send ya a private message.

So I would just be able to attach the wires from the computer fan to the 12v wall adapter? Is there a trick to wiring it. I don't know anything about this stuff. Will I know which wire goes where?

if you wire it one way it will spin one way, switch wires and it will spin the other way iirc.

Radio shack sells a power brick that has multiple voltages and can be switched. 12v is one of the options. These are always good to have around.

Most cell phone wall adapters are 12VDC. Just check the adapter output rating.

None of mine were. They were all in the 6v to 8v range, and none of them would drive a 12v relay.
