I'm currently in the planning stages of converting my 90 African Cichlid tank to in time live reef tank. I currenly run 2 canister filters on it. What I'm planning on doing is converting it to a sump which i will store in my mechanical room in my basement due to weight concerns. Running the pipe since I'm a plumber isn't any concern what is is the pump i will need to run it. Total piping will be aprox. 45ft of horizontal and 12ft. of head. I would like a dc pump so i can adjust flow with either an apex or reefkeeper system. I would also like thoughts on what size sump (45g?) and protein skimmer should get. How much live sand 100lbs? Live rock 100 to 150lbs? and whatever other info you can give me would be much appreciated.
