cookin rock

been cookin some rock for about a month n a half now and i thought for sure that it would be done by now. The only level that is keepin it from done is the ammonia. Nitrites and Nitrates are at 0 ppm buy amonia is right around .50 ppm. Should i not be concerned about this or just go ahead and put it in my sump like i planned? Or do i wait it out till its down to 0 ppm and if i should wait how can i speed it up cuz i am tryin to swap the bioballs in my sump for the live rock and create a refugium.

I would change out all the water for fresh saltwater. There really should be no ammonia build up after a month. Wait a couple days and test again. If youre getting no ammonia then you can go a head and put it your sump.

been doin water changes regularly...just did one wednesday i tested today and its still high i dont get it. unless i am gettin a miss reading which i wouldnt put it past my test kits cuz they are API and from what i hear they are precisley poop lol

Try another test kit. My guess is a bad test.
You test a batch of freshly mixed SW see how that looks to see if there is a difference..

have to let is cycle first or it would cycle my tank and kill anything in it.

might have to go ahead and get another test kit i have been debatin doin that lately but dont want to spend the money on it right now.

Im curious as to how people that dont cook the rocks have successful tanks with no ammonia. I have never had ammonia in my tanks even during a cycle when using live rock, where did your live rock come from such that it had to be cooked to avoid killing your tank?
