I spotted this angler at one of my lfs's. Can anyone identify it and give me some info?

IME with ID-ing anglers, that photo isn't enuff to nail it down. A side view as well as shots showing its esca and illium ("bait" and "rod") would give us the best chance.

have the LFS feed it with a guppie of ghostie, and when the fish tries to lure it in, you'll be able to see the illicium and ecsa, which will be helpful.

FWIW, "purple angler" is about as useless as "yellow SH" in terms of ID. Can the LFS at least pin down where the fish was collected?

Hello,

I agree it is probably a Lophiocharon lithinostomus if this is the case, the queue must be have two or three column of small (marbled) spots that we can guess.

If you can get the illicium which is very thin in this species try to get us a better view of its profile.
