Cool fish store trip today

Fishy Business in Bowling Green. This place is cool and good prices on there stuff. A lot of corals at really good prices. The coolest thing though was a cylinder tank that was at least a 150. The cool thing was that is was rotating and it had an arm on the outside that held the mag float that was programmed to move at certain intervals and clean. Just to give an idea of the prices they had a duncan with about 10-14 heads for 350, brains for about 40 and good sized ones at that. tons of shrooms at about 35 a rock with 10 or so on the rock. SPS to quite a bit of it did not really look at prices though not ready for that yet. Just a cool place worth checking out if you are in that area. Only about 40 min from me so just as far as the critter or emerald bay for me. Just thought i would let everyone know. I am sure several of you have been there.

Where are you at? I'm pretty sure it would be a bit of a haul for me, but I may get bored while I'm on Christmas break and head up there. :)

I am in hendersonville. So yeah it would be a haul for you in murfreesboro. I wish i had a got some pictures that would have been cool

I've been meaning to go there, I believe that they breed regal tangs and clownfish too.

Another place to check out beyond a doubt is Creative Aquatics in Owensboro Kentucky, I LOVE that place. Most of his corals are $55 or below. I spent $200 in there and got 7 KILLER corals out of it, plus a lot of food and some other dry goods. I believe he stated that he is the largest walk-in distributor of Ocean Nutrition east of the Mississippi and always has a refrigerator PACKED with the stuff.

Last time I was there, he'd just gotten back from a trade show in Chicago, he had all kinds of ORA stuff, bigger pieces (2-3-4" range) and nothing more than $65. He had a 9 head duncan with 2 little babies on it for $65. Yep, that's right, ORA duncans for $65 for more than 10 heads! CRAZY prices. I should have got them, but I had little room in my tank for them. I got 2 1.5" clams for $25 each.

Sorry to jump on your thread undercontrolj, just thought you and others might want to visit it. I've heard that Waters of the World in Evansville/Newburgh Indiana is AWESOME, but pricy.

I used to go to the fishey business store in Nashville when they were still here. They were the ones who got me started in reefing. I have been to the Bowling Green store several times but it has been a while since I have made it up there. They usually have some cool stuff.

Mitch is the owner of that store and the designer of that rotating tank, he holds the patent on it. He has built so many awesome reef related tanks, he had a surge tank when he had the store in Nashville just for SPS that was great, Kinda like the waves breaking over the corals. Wish he would never have closed his store here, when he did I got out for a while but then came the stores we have now. Oh Well. Brandon If you want to do a road trip I open to that after the frag swap?

Yeah, I remember when that wave tank sprung a leak in one of the towers. As it would fill up the water would shoot out. I remember one of the employees holding their finger over it until someone could shut it off.

The fact that it leaked is not important, that he dreamed that up and built it is. I know i personally could not have done that or many of the other things he has accomplished in this hobby. That was my point. Those that never try will always fail!

I am glad to hear of the other cool fish stores that everyone has visited. Hey if a group of people wanted to do a road trip to one of these places i would be all for it either in december or early january. Might be a fun thing to do while i am on winter break from school. Plus i will be in need of some new corals by then.

Oh I wasn't saying anything bad about it. I just had a funny memory about it. :) I have tried new things lots of times and sometimes they worked and sometimes they didn't. I have had more leaks than I care to admit.

You and me both, We would be well served if Mitch would reopen a store in the Nashville area. he is a Master reef Keeper and always sold quality fish and coral JMO. Always willing to help people learn how succeed in the hobby. Always had great SPS.
