Cool pic of a large spaghetti worm

Bent

I got nothin'
Figured I'd post this for the new guys to be able to ID it. Most of them aren't this big, some of are bigger, some are smaller but they all have the same basic anatomy.

I have a bunch in my sandbed, except mine are usually redish in color and quite a bit smaller. When I shut the pumps off to feed daily, you can see the surface in a cave in my rockwork teaming with little red tentacles. Every once in a while I'll catch one near the glass like your pic.

Nice! I have a bunch of them in my tank, but none close to that big. They are all tucked in the rocks too, can't get a cool pic of it against the glass like that. Very cool picture.

That's a great pic! I wonder if RC has a table or chart where you can go to ID pests? I see a lot of folks asking for IDs.

It's really the first time I've seen one in its entirety pressed against the glass like that.

Ben, very cool pic. Especially being up against the glass and so big. I had some but they all disappeared when I got a wrasse... hmmm!

I must have looked through about a 2000 pics we have taken (and kept... thousands more discarded) while snorkeling in the Keys. And I know we had a couple of nice shots of the bigger spaghetti worm. They make 'parchment' tubes to live in and the worm is about the diameter of a big finger or even a thumb. The tentacles are 8" to 14" long and look like thick off white string. And there are even bigger ones called a Medusa Worm that have 12" to 18" translucent blue/green tentacles. But neither of these bigger worms are hearty at all and after failing to transport one home (along with other critters that all survive) on 2 occasions, I quit trying.

Any of you lucky guys with spaghetti worms would like to sell me some? :-D I need a few really badly for my DSB...
