Cool Tangs at Pet Mart

Pet Mart has a pair of some really cool tangs they are black with a little bit of Orange on thier fins not sure the name of them I know they were not Archilles Tangs or any of the more common Tangs/Surgeonfish around I have not been able to find them on any website. I have been holding out for a Powder Blue but may re-consider now.

It might be a Bristletooth Tomini Tang. Anybody heard of them had any luck?

they should be able to tell you the scientific names, many wholesalers used to list their fish by their scientific names...

Is this the tang you are talking about?? http://www.marinecenter.com/media/photos/8B548B71FC1B4B92B5E063A74344AED6H.jpg

If so it is a bristletooth tomini tang, I have one in my tank hes maybe 2.5'' right now. Hes a great fish, non aggressive to anything I put in the tank. And eats algea like a fiend. Its like a kole tang but with a fire lit behind him!!

I would highly recomend one! Oh he also eats just about anything I put in the tank for him! Which is a big plus =)

I think that is him. I have a problem with stringy algae right now so that might be aplus to my tank. I have a yellow tang but he is spoiled. If I put this tang in my tang I will be maxed out and will not be able to put a powder blue in and I have always wanted one of those

They are a cool looking tang. Faois has 1 in 1 of their coral tanks. I saw it saturday after seeing this thread and it too was going around eating like crazy.

My tominious tang is really really hardy, i dunno if this is a common characteristic, but he's pretty territorial and is the bully of the tank (only to new comers)

adding a new tang to an established tang is very hard -

try to re-arrange the rocks, add the new tang and cover the tank without any lights for two days...

Yes my Yellow tang loves to initiate the new fish in the tank he harassed my Canary Wrasse for a few days (the rest of their fish also took their turn) all is good now and he tried my Coral Beauty but she fought back and since then they have dealt with each other just fine. If I do add another tang I will shut my lights off or maybe just keep my Artinics on for a few days

no, the idea is to add a new tang in the darkness, when the lights come on, the tank is different and there is a new inhabitant...

I love tomini tangs. I have one and it is wicked!! The mimic tang took right to him. No quams whatsoever. Since the tomini is of the Ctenochaetus and the yellow is of Zebrasoma, they have totally different body shapes and should not be huge deal putting him in there. Not like a yellow and a purple...shouldn't be any more harrassment than any other fish getting initiated.

Tominiensis tangs... yeah pretty cool fish. Don't see em too often. I do need a tang like that... kole, tomi, or chevron- preferably chevron.
