I wouldn't personally. I have 100's of them in my tank (they multiply easily) and have had them in all of my tanks over the years. So far I've yet to have one of the bad coral eating species. It doesn't mean I won't and so I keep an eye out but so far they are just detritus and algae eaters that scavenge and help keep my tank clean.
Some people dont like em because they can be all over the front panel of your DT and is distracting, one option is a harlequin shrimp but then you would need to find food for it once it is done eating all the stars.
I havent had the issue yet in mine but have seen it happen. Other route is to try and suck them off with a tube or scrape/pull them out with a baster or something. That is if you want to get rid of them.
I've had a gazillion of these in my tanks (I know, I counted and gazillion is a really big number). One other warning about them is to make sure they don't get under your magnet cleaner. They can scratch your glass and especially your acrylic.
