Coolest Fish Tank Ever.....Maybe?

That is cool. I have always wanted to do that. a fish habit trail. but if it springs a little vacuum leak anywhere along the trail, or a powerhead blows a lot of air bubbles up there, all that water will drain down to overflow the tanks. I hope he has a really big sump somewhere to hold all that water. I think i would use acrylic pipe instead. stronger and less likely to break at a glue seam.

I just get my tank about done and you show me this! I think it would look better if it was acrylic say 6" - 8" round tube. They make couplers, elbows and weld on glue so there would be little problem with leaks. I do see the need for a large overflow sump just in case.

I have had plans in the back of my mind, to build a house with continuous, connected tanks that go ALLL the way around at least one room, at different levels, and even an arch over the door way. perhaps all overflowing to a greenhouse sump type pond system to grow corals outside.

Ah!! Sweet Dreams.

Thats got to be a pain to keep clean. I guess you will need high flow and a large cleaning crew.

back in the early 90's, some guy was selling large acrylic tubes (10 or 12"dia.) to join aquariums together. Keeping a flow going was a big problem at the time, but he apparently solved it. I'll have to research it, and see if I can find an old link.

Did you find it yet? I would do this if I can find a decent price on the tube

Sorry, have not found it yet. I'll keep looking.
If I remember correctly, the price was $1500 or so. ,,,and that was a good ten years ago.

yeah, it was expensive, but cool. 12" diameter acrylic tube linking two tanks. It was a "U" shaped tube.

that's awesome looking. It's the type of tank you want to see at someone elses house. Glad it's not in mine, but still cool to look at...
