Coolest Hitch Hiker to date

Found this guy the other day...only about the size of a dime.

I hope this is just a baby, and he gets a whole lot bigger.

I've been lucky with some hitch hikers but nothing like that. do you know anything about him?

not a thing. I just happened to be walking by my tank this afternoon, and saw him hanging out on the glass.

I was hoping someone would chime in a tell what a little more about him.

He seems to have all the same characteristics as my black long spine, but that doesn't really mean anything.

Ive got someone on the case. I need to get a shot featuring the anal sack on the top of the body for confirmation.

However, early ID has been made as an Echinothrix calamaris or commonly known as Hatpin Urchin. Although this coloration is far from common, as it was explained to me.

Watch out as some brightely colored urchins can have poisonnous spines (not saying this one does)
My coolest hitchhiker ever was a small octopus years ago. few weeks a go I got a pistol shrimp that came in a snail shell.

Thats a beautiful urchin you got. I have got several things as a hitch hiker and a pink bubble coral stands above all for me.

looks to be a less common color variation of a hatpin urchin...just a baby...
