My 24gal aquapod is at a constant 81.8 degs.. I keep my house at 73 degs. How can i cool the tank down? And what would be the best chiller to get? If that is what i need. Also is their other ways to cool the tank down? Please help!:eek1:

they are 32W duel actinic and 32W duel daylight. They are the stock lights that came with the tank. But i have those temps with no lights on!

use a clip on fan. the air running acros the water will cool it down. i addad to fans to my 55 and lost 3.5 degrees.

some people have suggested that you make sure all the case fans point inward. the hot air can then be forced out the seems and cracks, etc.

Thanks for all the info! I will work with some fans a little more! But if that dont work what is the thoughts about the nano chiller?:D

Install a 60 mm pc fan that's 10-15 mm thick blowing inward just to the left or right of feeding hatch. It's easy if you just dremel off a corner of the fan (to make it fit), dremel the holes in the plastic, and buy two fan grates. The fan will then blow across the water and exit out the other hole you've dremeled. You can wire the fan to your moonlight adapter so it's on 24/7. You can even put in a rheostat like I did to make the fan speed adjustable.

I've done the above mod, but don't have pics. It'll drop your temperature at least 5 degrees.

Don't get a chiller, its too expensive and bulky.

chillers are pricy to buy and running them is not much less exspensiv. i like the idea about the 60 mm pc fan. can you get us a pic?

I have a IceProbe w/ controller and it works much better than I ever expected it to. Mine is on a 3 gallon tank. I have a coworker who got one for a 6 gallon tank and they work great. 24 gallons may be kinda pushing its limits, though.

Is your water surface still or does it have ripples? If it's still you should direct flow towards the surface to agitate it a little(along with a fan) and then you shouldn't have any problems. If your house is at 73F there is no reason why you should have any problems keeping it below 80.

Yea my house is at 73deg and im dumbfounded why im having trouble with the tank water! Imgoing to mess with a PC fan some time this week! But i found that if i prop the top cover up about an inch it seems (so far)to keep the tank temp down to about 78degs i will see if it is going to be a long term affect after a couple of days. Well i will let you all know about the outcome in a day or two! Thanks for all the addvice Also please post some pics of the PC fan mod!:rolleye1:

I have the same aquapod as you do, keep the house at the same temp as you and ran into the same problem as you. (on a hot day while I was away from home it hit 87 degrees)
So I've just been keeping the feeding door open and that usually keeps it below 80. I'm planning on doing a feeding door mod.
Just a sec, I think I have a pic somewhere...

This is a 12 AP but you get the idea.
