Copepods/Amphipods

So I have the opportunity to get a 1000 of these with an order but I know nothing about these things.

I have a 150 gallon with a 55 gallon sump/refugium. My fish list includes wrasse's, lion fish, serpent stars, foxface, a tiger tail cucumber, peaceful eel, and a grouper.

Will these fish eat the bugs or will the bugs overrun the tank?

Side question if anyone knows, are mermaid fans and halimedia good plants for decoration or do they spread uncontrollably?
 
Fish will eat them, as well various other inverts. If you already have a reef tank going, the likelihood is you already have plenty of copepods in there. They're a beneficial critter at the bottom of the food chain.
 
Its fine.. add them if you want.. and assuming the cost is cheap..They will not overrun the tank and they are beneficial and the fish will eat them too (wrasse,etc...)


What site are you ordering from? There is at least one vendor that I know if that will do deals like that and they typically don't get good reviews around here and keep changing their name to run from their reviews so if this is your first time watch out..
 
Aquarium Depot, 1000 for 30 basically

I'm only considering it, my real purchase was more chaeto and maybe the Halimedia and Mermaid Fan for decoration.

Most end up playing this circle of DOA-Credit-DOA-Credit..

One or two people had a bad experience and ranted about it excessively online.

I've ordered literally 10-20 times from this company over the years including while they were called reefs2go. Their inverts and especially their pods are excellent.

My problem with the endless bashing of this company is in the same breath people will turn around and recommend extremely overpriced competitors as if those were the only option.

Ignore the bandwagon. AquariumDepot is a great source for inverts, pods, and many corals.

Also check out royalreefs, they have a BOGO sale currently on pods.

There are negative reviews all over the place about them..
Heck.. I'm one and know there are plenty behind me..


I will agree that their pods and inverts are fine..
Its REALLY hard to screw that one up..


The rest of their business is inferior based on hundreds if not thousands of reviews on this board and others....
 
Here I sit, wondering: should I trust my own dozens of experiences or what some guy on the internet says?

On a side note you don't need to add pods to a reef tank. Trust me your tank has enough.

As fa as the plants. Mermaid won't spread too bad but halimeda will but you can easily prune it. I throw out bunches every couple of months
