Copepods

Hi!

I was just wondering. If I buy a bottle with live copepods and add them in my sump will these copepods survive/thrive in there?
I was thinking adding them where my chaeto is so they could "escape" in my DT water column and become live pray for the inmates :)

some will, some won't.

it's not really a one shot deal, which is why many people culture them outside of the tank environment in a separate vessel, then every so often harvest some to place in the tank.

just dumping one bottle of pods in the tank on time isn't going to do a whole lot of good.

setting up a fuge will help them have a good place to breed.

the best would be an external culture, and a fuge.

Your plan will work just fine since you have a fuge set up.

You need to make sure the pods are alive when you buy them Try out getyourpods.com

I just received an order from them recently. I paid $27 for 600 Pods, and they were on BOGO so I got 1200. My tank is new and wanted to just give the pod population a little kick in the butt so to speak.

We are about a week in, my glass is absolutely covered in them. I do not have any copepod predators in my tank right now though, just some clowns.
