Copper QT with hippo tang

What's your opinion on the subject? Either way I will never put another tang in my tank without either copper or hypo. The reason I ask is I QT everything with copper. If the consensus is no copper I will be forced to put on my big girl panties and learn how to use Hypo. Thanks for all replies.

Would qt using cupramine(do it slowly over a week) at .4 using a seachem test kit to test do not use API found out the hard way.Of cours make sure your qt tank is established.

Cupramine is the safest of the coppers. Add it slow and test you should be fine. I have had some bad luck using cupramine with angels...

Dont know if size make a difference but i qt'd a nickel sized hippo in cupramine and he was and is fine to this day. I'd say what they said add it slow and watch him close.

I would use cupramine and prazipro together for treatment. Its not too harsh on the hippo, the copper. Prazipro is a different story, but it gets rid of flukes.

I agree add it slow but uses the recommended dose at .5 in an established QT.

I havent yet had a bad experience with cupramine and I've treated flame angels (dwarf angels are notoriously finicky in copper) and wrasses which are the same way.

I wouldnt treat at anything but the recommended level of .5, otherwise you're possibly not killing all the ich.

Make sure you use a good test kit made to test cupramine

AS you already stated add it slow, and don't make the mistake I did....If you notice any change in the behavior at all stop the treatment and remove the copper.

How slow? Over the corse of a couple days or slower?

Over a couple days initial dose I would do half of what seachem recommends then 2 days later go to half dose then over a week and a half get it up to full dose and as stated if the fish starts to breathe heavy or act funny remove cooper using carbon cuprisorb or water change

Recommend salifert or seachem test kit.Do not use prime doing this process
