Copperband A2680938

I ordered an Australian Copperband from the DiversDen section, along with 4-other fish from the regular Liveaquaria section. The fish shipped on Monday for delivery Tuesday. I picked the fish up at the FedEx right there by the airport on Tuesday morning at 9am and did a 2-hour acclimation process for the fish. The 4-fish from liveaquaria are all doing fine. The Copperband is not eating anything yet. Do you have any suggestions to entice him to eat? He is constantly picking at the rocks however he is not eating aiptasia or tubeworms either. It looks like he is picking at nothing. I have already tried Hikari Mysis, Spirulina Brine, Rods Food and Bloodworms. I ordered some PE Mysis from the lfs which will be in tomorrow. Any other suggestions for me? It is a beautiful fish, I want to do whatever I can to keep it alive. Thanks

he is probably picking at pods. when i bought mine i made sure it ate and now it will eat just about anything i put in the tank. i have heard of people using live brine to get them going. if you have a strong pod population in your tank and he is picking at the rocks all the time then he is hungry and eating. just keep trying things till you find somthing. also for the longest time mine would not take the food out of the water column he would only eat the frozen food that was laying on the sand.

Thank you for your order and post. It sounds like you are already supplying your Australian Copperband with a good variety of food. We would recommend soaking his food in Garlic Xtreme, as this may entice him to eat. These beautiful specimens are shy and deliberate feeders, it may take several more days for your fish to show an interest in food.

I got the PE Mysis (soaked in Garlic Xtreme) today and he was picking at it. I think he swallowed a few and a few more he chewed up and spit out. This is a huge improvement because he was completely oblivious to the other stuff I fed the previous two days. Today was only day 3 and he is showing good interest in mysis, so I have a good feeling.
By the way, I was going to purchase a "pair" of clownfish from DiversDen but I decided to save $100 and buy two clowns from liveaquaria (I requested one male and one female) and these two are already constantly hanging out as a pair. At night they sleep together too. One fish is a little bigger than the other, which shows liveaquaria made the effort to satisfy my male/female request. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. I have one more question. The CBB does eat the PE Mysis, however, it LOVES live blackworms. When I put live black worms in the tank the CBB acts like a tang and swims quickly around the tank to eat up every worm. Can you please find out if live blackworms are healthy for the CBB or do I really need to entice him to eat more of the PE Mysis and eventually stop feeding worms. I know it is kind of a weird question, if there is no answer, I understand. Thanks again

Thank you for your post. Your new Copperband Butterfly fish should thrive on live Blackworms and the occasionally added Mysis Shrimp. Copperband Butterfly Fish are shy and it is possible that he will start eating other foods once he is completely acclimated to his new environment.
