Copperband Butterfly and Hippo Tang? Is this an option?

It's what it's
Hi, I am wanting to take my copperband out of my 75 gallon tank and put him in with my blue hippo tang in my 180 gallon. I have heard that some tangs just won't get along with some copperbands. Does anyone have these two together? Did they go at it right off the bat or didn't they even look at each other when one or the other was added? Thanks for any help.

I have a Copperband Butterfly and a Hippo tang and the two don't pay attention to one another. I Also have a Foxface in the tank and the Hippo and Foxface play together. I added the copper months later and It was not a problem.

i think it depends on the temperment and relative size of your fish. i've got a CBB in QT waiting to join my hippo tang, i'm probably going to move the hippo into a 37g holding tank for a week or so when the butterfly gets introduced.

my hippo and my foxface play too, but it's sort of like how my lab and my bulldog "play"; it's more fun for the bulldog. foxface are remarkably tolerant of abuse, or at least are remarkably hardy. from what i've read, CBB's are not.

When I got my cbb it was a smaller one, so the hippo never paid much attention to it anyway. I also have to put my brine shrimp or myiss in a net and let the cbb have all he wants to eat first or Dory will just vacume the tank and Pinocchio gets nothing. I would also try feeding some nori on a clip to distract the tang so your cbb gets his fill.

Here you go:

2 years and no problems.

I am tempted to get rid of the CBB though.
It's an expensive fish to feed if you have a clean up crew.
If I dont feed every day, the CBB starts killing snails & crabs.
