Copperband butterfly in sps tank, yay or nah?

I've had one in a 180 reef, heavily acropora, for 3.5 years. He's a great eater with mysis, brine, LOVES frozen blood worms, and LRS. Never touched a coral, hunts the rocks all day between the morning and night feedings. Great fish, probably just lucky

That's good news as I just put one in today.

I had luck with them years ago but tried a few over the past two years and they always died. Even when they were eating they would randomly die. I gave up and wonder if the collection methods from the source were up to par. Used to get them from a different source and they were much more robust then. Good luck with it! I never had one eat a coral even in a mixed reef. But you gotta feed it lots of different stuff, bloodworms will really help them as well as other meaty foods. Having a diverse tank helps a lot too.

Acclimated mine by feeding live blood worms for a week or two. Now eats mysis shrimp and other meaty foods. gets bullied by other fish for food --some people have suggested a perforated ball to hold he food (where the CB can stick his nose in to extract food). I try to help it get more food by hand feeding a few times per week.

model citizen. does not touch LPS, acans, or anemone. I've had mine for 1 year.

I had one. It's out now. He ate the polyps out of an efflo like he was a fat kid in a chocolate factory.

Yep, as long as you aren't keeping feather worms they are a great fish. Mine is constantly swimming and gliding around the tank, one of my favorites.
