i just got a copperband butterfly and was wondering what experiences other people have had good or bad.thanks anyone how posts

You will soon find out that very few people have had success with them. I tried and lost. My tank was overrun by tubeworms and had a few aiptasia. The fish went to town and in a few weeks, he started starving and died. Would not accept frozen bloodworm or anything else. Good luck with yours.

before you bought it, did you see it eat? the reason i ask is because these fish are very finicky eaters, if you have an established tank they will usually pick things off of the live rock. i would try live brine shrimp or soaked broccoli.

good luck.

i dont know if it did eat.i know i might have problems but idk.i didnt pick the fish my friend went to the wholesaler and got it and i know hed pick a healthy fish.its not to much of a waste if it dies 20 bucks not a real problem.i just would like to know some experiences.if thell eat oysters is a big one.

I know a few people that have had success with them they start off feeding them live black worms. I haven't try one yet but it's one of the fish on my list to get.

The first butterfly I had success with ate live brine shrimp at the LFS and after feeding with live brine at home for a few days and switched to frozen mysis ,no problem. He then polished off all the aptasia and when he got to big for my 75 gallon reef I gave him to a friend. Great fish!!!!! Good Luck... You have to pick a good eater for success with Butterflies.

Be nice. I am sure he does not want to lose his fish, hence this post. Just give some help and not pass judgement.

i heard good things about live black worms. also this is probably the wrong place to be posting comments that u made as most of the ppl here actually care about their animals

go to blackworms.com You can overnight 1 lb of black worms from them with some "keepers" for less than $50. The worms will keep for a couple weeks if you follow directions or you freeze most of them as I do. The provide necessary fatty oils hard to get elsewhere. Also feed PE mysis and you could soak these in selcon or other. Also feed Rods which has a tremendous variety of meaty foods for the Copperband.

This is an amazing fish that will learn to eat from your fingertips! I kept a medium sized one from Saltwaterfish.com for 15 months on the diet above before having to give it away due to a Clown Tang agression issue. I urge you to get serious about this choice you made to buy such a fine specimen of fish we are allowed to put in our tanks. Your efforts will be well rewarded and some.

Mine did fine. Make sure you see him eat at the LFS first, they usually will feed them frozen Mysis Shrimp. If he goes nuts when it goes in the tank, pick em up. I've found that they do alittle bit better than most think.

i do care for my animals.im just sayin that im not gunna kill myself if only spent 20bucks on it and it died.im still gunna care for it and do the best i can to keep it alive.every fish ive ever owned ive cared for and kept most alive but who hasent lost a couple fish.im sorry for what i said coming across that way.and i understand were your coming from.i just wanted to clear the water on that.

Not sure if this is the same but I got my latticed butterflyfish to eat frozen cubed spirulina brine shrimp and mussles. I have it almost for 2 weeks now and it started eating mysis shrimp. It still won't eat pellets though.

Get the black worms Logan, they are key and all other fish will eat them as well. You receive more worms than you could use in months.

thank you.
