Copperband Butterfly

Hi i heard that copperband butterflys are ok with reef, and i just wanted to know what is the minimum tank size to keep 1 of those fish happily for their life?

A cbb will do ok in a 50-75 gallon tank or larger. Most tend to be fairly reef safe, although some individuals may go after some corals. The bigger problem with them is they don't ship well and can be hard to adapt to aquarium life.

I agree. Also, choosing tankmates is very important. CBBs don't do well with even slightly aggressive fish, or even a very active tank
Many of these fish never do acclimate and (IMO&IME) the origin of the fish has a lot to do with success. I wound't buy a CBB (or most any fish) from Indonesia, The Phillipiines, or labeled "Indo-Pacific" CBBs from Australia are pricey, but spectacular and hardier (like most Aussie fish). I think some are available from The Solomon Islands, Fiji, Tahiti, etc. All good sources.

Thankyou for your replies.. i will keep everything in mind.. my LFS is pretty good for when they sell fish.. they have their fish in for a few weeks before selling them.. and they dont buy in huge bulk, they buy 1 or two at a time.. or they will bring in special ordered.. they are not a huge store, just a small hobbiest store.. which i really like. and he also keeps his personal fish there in a big 8 foot aquarium for show, and then he has a huge 4 foot square show tank for selling corals. they have a open look which i really like

they also have a CCB there that will eat our of your hand.. but it is his fish.. lol not for sale.. and they will make sure that it eats before selling.. hes really good there..
