Copperband with Lymphocystis?

Just got this guy a week ago. He is in a 29 gallon QT tank with a Pajama Cardinal fish. The Copperband is eating live black worms, has a healthy appetite and has plenty of energy. Note the spot sticking out on his 2nd stripe towards the top of his body. He developed some small white spots on his fins pec fins and tail fin first, didn't look like ich to me, then he got a small white patch on his tail and this spot developed on his side. Do you guys think it's Lymphocystis caused from the stresses of shipping? What should I treat this with, if anything?

Lympho does not typically present on the body. It usually is on the fins, tail and sometimes mouth.

it does typically show up on the fins but it certainly can appear on the body. my kole tang developed it while in qt. he had a few spots on his fins and several on his body.

if it's lympho, there is no treatment. all you can do is make sure your water quality is perfect and soak his food in vitamins (selcon and/or vita-chem). it just has to run its course. hopefully, that's all it is.

it took a couple of weeks for my kole tang to get better, after i started using the supplements. lympho is said to be contagious but not likely to spread. i put my guy into dt while he still had 1 or 2 spots and nothing spread and he cleared up quickly.

Just keep feeding him live worms and don't worry about it.

Thanks, you guys just confirmed what I was hoping/thinking. I will keep feeding him, keep the water quality good, and let it run it's course.

It looks like a little infection to me, little = do nothing. Add some seafoods + a good pellet to his blackworm diet

Thanks. I'm going to add some Formula One Flake food in with the black worms so they can eat that and hopefully he will get the benefit from that. As of now he won't really eat anything except live black worms. I'm hoping eventually I can get him to accept other foods though!

I would be surprised if he ate the flake, many won't touch pellets. I buy fresh clams, shrimp & bay scallops, put it all in the blender (yum), add pellets, selcon, greens & mix. Then I put a couple tablespoons in a sandwich bag, flatten it out and freeze. I feed this and blackworms.

To entice eating you can put a fresh open clam in the tank, I always freeze mine first to kill bacteria. Gets messy in a tank,especially QT, so take it out after a few mins and be able to do a water change if needed.

Thanks I appreciate the feeding tips! I like your idea of putting everything in a blender and freezing it. I'm going to try making a nice homemade food blend.

Just an update for everyone. The spot is almost completely healed up now. It's not sticking out anymore. He seems to be doing very well. Still has a healthy appetite and is very active and alert. I think he is going to be just fine.
