Set up a QT and treated with Coppersafe - Shortly after- learned that these things absorb the Copper

So took em out, finished treatment - and from what it sounds like they can never be used again.

SO

Sounds like copper will stay in the shells/dead coral and leak out forever? is this true?

Not forever, but it's hard to say when it's done leaching out. The only way (I know of) to make the rock "reef safe" again is to dip it in muriatic acid for 5 mins. This eats away at the outer layer of the rock where the copper may still be. Obviously, you want to wear gloves and be very careful when using muriatic acid. And afterwards rinse & rinse, and let air dry thoroughly.
