ok. so my friend got one this afternoon. Its been aclimating so far for about 2 hrs(drip method)

he just lost its main claws. Is this normal?

I dont know if its normal, but i think i've heard they regrow..at least i've heard that the legs/claws on arrow crabs will, so i assume it would for these guys too.

i wouldn't be happy if that happened to mine if i just brought it home. doesn't sound normal to me but i only have one but have had him for about a year and a half. he has been doing well. they will definately grow back during a molt

i hear it happens all the time in mated pairs...one pulls the claws off the other (they are mean little buggers). it should grow back with molting

I hate CBS, they are so mean. I had one for 1 year, he tormented every fish and invert I had!

I hopw thats not the case on my buddies tank..He just got rid of some mean fish..just to get some pretier fish..

he had a few triggers, niger, picasso, clown, panther grouper..

will see how the tank does..

They're murderers. I had one in my nano and it quickly became the only living thing in my nano. It even killed my Neon Dottyback, the meanest little fish alive. As for dropping their claws, it's pretty normal when they're not happy. They do grow back though. But, it's almost a blessing in disguise when they lose them...

I've always kept a CBS in my tank and NEVER had a single problem out of one.

I hope that thats the case..

:D

I think for the CBS behavior.. it depends on its surroundings, water quality, potential food sources - anything can be mean and snappy and territorial if its hungry or feels like it doesnt have enough space.. and of course theres always the random psycho in any species haha

2 hours .. to me sounds a little long. I would think maybe he's just stressed but they should grow back.

I personally prefer the skunk cleaner.. I love how friendly they are- practically attacks my hand to clean me when i put it in the tank hehe

I've had several and they molted ALOT. Sometimes when i looked in the tank i thought i saw it dead, but come to find out it molted and was still in the tank alive. So yes you will see alot.
