Coral beauty, or Flame angel???

I keep reading that these smaller angels are not reef friendly but I keep seeing them in peoples reef tanks? So what's up? Are they ok with corals? Are they not?

I have both flame and the coral beauty,,, I have heavy sps and lps coral both are great citizens ,, no problems at all here

Yes I've read "crap shoot" on all small angels when it comes to corals. The more I read, it seemed that the coral beauty was a better choice, so I bought one. No problems.In the meantime a lot of reefers have flames with no problem. Just that predominately the coral beauty seemed less likely to pick. Cheers

+1...Flame pair and CB with 7 other angels...no problem...SO FAR...can change at any time!

I have both, they nip at SPS, leave my clams alone, along with my zoas. Leave many softies alone. However they LOVE fleshy LPS, they will destroy them in about a day.

i have a coral beauty that has been in my tank,Mostly LPS with some softies and a couple SPS for about 8 months and i have not had any troubles. He is a model citizen as well! Got lucky...so far...knock on wood

I just lost my coral beauty after 7 years, he was excellent with all SPS, clams, zoas and the frof spawn, hammer and trumpets I have had. I have had a flame about a year now and it has also been good.

As you see above, I've been lucky as they are all hit or miss.

All dwarfs are rock pickers and therefor pick at corals for food that is not necessarily the coral itself. This can reduce PE in SPS.

IMHO, they are worth the risk!
