Coral Beauty possible Crypt?

I recently noticed my Coral Beauty has some "white salt spots" on one of it's sides. All of my other fish are fine with no spots.....2 percs...1 bg chromis...1 yellow goby. The Beauty has shown no signs of rubbing against rocks or swimming in a strong current and still has a voracious appetite. I have been feeding with some fresh garlic soaked food this past week. Should I wait to see what happens or treat right away?

Could be mono genes.....I wouldn't wait....do a fresh water dip using r/o water, buff it, bring the water to temp, and use some pazi pro, and nox ich.

Sounds like Ich.

Do you have any pictures of your Coral Beauty? Your description fits Ich, but as Monster suggested, flukes are common as well and can sometimes appear on the skin, however salt spots do not typically describe most of them. Is the angelfish a new addition to your tank? It's great to hear about the good appetite on the Coral Beauty as they can be a bit finicky. No QT if so?

If you can provide some more information, I would be happy to help.

Flukes can be checked by performing the freshwater dip as suggested by Monster, adjusting the temp/pH. You can use a dark background and if you see sesame seed sized particles in the water during the dip, it's likely your fish has flukes. The short dip will kill a large number of the flukes, but treatment using Hikari's Prazipro is recommended and is effective. It's easy to dose and use.

Sure ill try to get a good pic tomorrow....although the beauty is an active fast swimmer.....may be kinda difficult lol.....I would hate it to be ich....as I have 2 clowns...1 chromis...1 goby to move into quarantine....the pistol.shrimp will be ****ed when his buddy is gone haha

I tried to get a pic, but couldn't get a good one....all were too blurry. It does look like big specs of white....doesn't look like its spreading much. The other fish are still healthy...so I am going to try the freshwater dip this weekend or tomorrow and hope they fall off and its flukes.

well I did the freshwater dip yesterday....looks like most of the spots fell off. There is still 1 left on one of the fins. Yes most of the spots were about sesame sized....so does this indicate more flukes? I may just let him destress from the dip for awhile before I treat in my quarantine aka. need to get it setup and seed the filter.

Yes, sounds like flukes from your FW dip. I agree you will want to give the fish some recovery time from the dip. The FW dip likely provided much needed relief, however some flukes survive depending on the dip duration. I would recommend you treat with Hikari Prazipro in your QT when you get it setup.

Here's an excellent thread documenting flukes and the use of Prazipro:
