Coral Beauty Reef Safe?

i htink they are the same risk as the flames, but it seems that more ppl have success with 'em being good, but there's definitely a chance it won't behave

I had one he kept pecking at Christmas tree worms and small polyps - lovely loooking fish but wouldnt keep another

Mine is. .

She was my fish BEFORE I added reef corals. I tested her with small cheap polyp frags. She behaved so now I have a full blown reef.

Someone once told me when I was a newbie that if you keep her well fed she will be less of a problem. But this is true for many aspects of reef keeping.

EDIT:: By the way, why SECOND choice? Just look at the pic in my avatar. She is the most beautiful vibrant dwarf angel, PERIOD. :D

I had a CB (who died after an extended power outage) for over a year with no problems. But one day he started nipping on my prized coral out of the blue. Id never seen him eat coral just nip. But the coral didnt like it.From personal experience I couldnt recommend a CB for a "reef".

I have had one in my tank for about 2 years now, with no problems, but I only keep softies. Word on the street is it's a bad idea.

If you want an angel fish that is considered more reef safe then I suggest you go with a pygmy angel or a flameback angel.

I would also say that if your tank has enough algea growing in it a coral beauty and flame angel are both reef safe fish. In my experience, these two angels become non-reef safe because the tank does not have enough algea for them to graze on.

awesome fish have kept a Coral Beauty and a flame Angel in my 60 semi reef with polyps candy canes shrooms. They dont touch a thing

Any problems with a CB eating clam mantles? Or tube worms?

They are a beautiful fish, I just don't want to harm or lose any of the cool and interesting inverts I've got in my tank now.

(Why can't all these animals just get along?!?!?)

My CB is now 18 months in my mixed reef, trumpets favia zoos and clams as well as SPS all doing fine.

It is hit or miss, and most agree well fed = well behaved

I keep a CB in my reef with SPS, LPS, shrooms and have not experienced a problem. Its been in there for over a year and is fed about twice a week. Mostly picks at the glass and rock.

i have had my cb with lps & softies since october & it hasn't touched any of the corals. it does definitely graze the rocks but doesn't eat the corals. i too keep it well fed with frozen foods every other day & algae flakes the other days.

When I first got my CB, she was malnourished and had HLLE. For a few days she picked at a couple of corals, then she quit. I keep her well fed and she is a model citizen. She also has fully recovered from HLLE.
