I bought a coral beauty about four days ago. Is it normal for them to lay under a rock during the day when all other fish are up and about? She has seemed fine so far but I haven't seen her eat alot. She was out earlier and now she is under the rock on her side. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

They do need time to adjust . Is it the same size as the other ? And they do require mixed diet. Omnivore/carnivore. They like nori along with frozon brine. If you dont see any noticable signs of health rikh then just give him time.

I only have 1 of them and I am giving a diet of flake food, seaweed and brine. She was swimming sideways/upside down earlier for a few minutes but like I said, she is now on the bottom under a rock. I am not sure what to think really. All tests on water are zero. ?????

I dont think that sounds normal. My coral beauty went in the tank and took right off, even after scrapping for a while with my purple pseudo, which removed its tail more times that I have fingers and toes. Still it swam around and held its ground with a shredded tail. Though I did QT, did you?

That doesn't sound good. Try to get it to eat and keep a good eye on it.

Hmmmm. How big of a tank is this guy in?

This sounds like behavior that is far from normal, even while they adjust to a new tank.

I do argee with attempting to feed him Nori, but if he's acting like this, I'm willing to bet he is way to stressed to eat. So how big of a tank is he in?

Usually Coral Beauties are quite easy to acclimate and get adjusted to a new tank.

i will agree it doesnt sound good at all. did you get it from the store in G'boro? i think they have a return policy on fish. but you have to freeze the fish, and take a water sample. but they may have changed. i would also like to know how you acclimated the fish. my CB came from the store in G'boro almost 2 years ago. it took right off as well. he was eating and swimming around the tank within hours.

I just looked at your pics, and I have more questions. If you have the CB in a 35, it may be close, but he should be fine in that size of a tank.

What other (how many) fish are in the tank already?

Also do you have a skimmer on the tank or just the HOB small filter I see in the pics. If you don't have any other filtration or skimmers, I would be very curious as to what you are doing to keep your numbers at zero.

More info please ;)

Well, she didn't make it. She died this afternoon. The pics you were looking at are my old tank that I have for sale. She was in a 75 gal with 1 clown, 1 tang, 2 engineer gobies and a damsel. I dont know what happened. She was swimming around the first couple of days after we got her but then started acting strangely. Today her fins looked like she had been picked on, I am not sure by who but last night when she started acting strange, no fin damage. I do have a skimmer, filter, heater. Very healthy tank, all params zero. verything else is thriving. I got it from the store in Kernersville. What could have happened????
