Coral Beauty Swimming in small circles

Hi All

A couple of months ago I bought a rather large coral beauty from a local fish store. It seemed fat and healthy and it always seemed to eat. This morning I went to do my weekly water change and noticed it swimming in small circles with a white bump on its side.

Can anyone identify what it is or what might be happening? It's always been quite secretive and I've noticed it lately not coming out to get food and always being in one corner. So this behaviour could have been happening for a while as it has lost weight.

I see two white dots, a sharply defined the in the upper body purple area, which might be on the container, not the fish. I also see one in the lower orange region, near the pectoral fin. Is that the one you're worried about?

The one in the lower orange area is the one

Does it look red and inflamed under and around the white area? Does the white area look smooth or cotton-y? Sorry, hard to tell from picture.

It is raised around the area and the bump it’s self is smooth and raised. It’s also about a cm long

I’ve just had to move the fish I think it’s face has been rubbing against the rocks. I hope this isn’t a spreading parasite.

There are far more experienced people on here than me, but my guess would be a secondary bacterial infection of some sort. Redness around the area would make me feel more confident, your message was a bit unclear on whether that was present. I would try kanaplex if I were you. If the fish is eating you can both put it in the water and feed it.

I don't see much redness but the area is really orange so it's hard to tell. I saw some waste poking out before it was almost clear.

The biggest concern is that the fish is just doing circles on the spot. Just in the corner of the tank. It's unable to break away from this pattern currently.

I had this happen one time (Coral Beauty Angel), and the fish just starved to death. Swam in small circles for 5-6 weeks, and stopped eating. I guessed it might be some sort of neurological damage.

Hmmm that begs the question of when is the right time for it to be humane?

During that time I was trying every treatment I could think of to no avail.

If it ever happens again, I will euthanize the fish within 2 weeks.
