Coral Beauty

So I have a Coral Beauty in my 80 gallon. The last few days it has been a little anti social kind of keeping to itself in some caves. It will come out during feeding and nibble a little but then kind of turn away. There are no signs or observations of bullying. I see no visible signs of stress or illness.

Mates:

2 ocelleris clowns
1 2" blue hippo

CUC:
2 mexican turbos
1 skunk shrimp
3 Nass snails

Coral:
3 head candy cane frag
1 head hammer frag
Fire and ice Zoas
Xenia frag

Params:
Ammonia - 0
Nitrate - 0
Alk - 10.2
Mag - 1240
Cal - > 500

Could it just be in a funk?
It generallly travelled the tank quite a bit.

I would continue to watch him if that was not his normal behavior something is wrong. He's either sick or there is something social going on in the tank making him act that way. I would continue to monitor for disease. If he is still eating after a bit its likely a social issue.

His buddy the magnificent fox face passed 2 weeks ago unexpectedly and for unknown reasons... they travelled together a lot...

It's social enough to come to the glass to greet me but then seems to return to rocks...

The 3 other fish go nutts at feeding time...but he seems pretty in interested...

my coral beauty does that also in my 265. some days its swimming around other days i dont see it unless i am feeding the tank. i would say at this point just watch and observe.

Does a soctal issue typically work itself out?

There's definately no aggression from anyone that I've seen.

Well I have had them work themselves out before but its probably not too common without removal of the issue I.E a fish that is to agressive toward him. Or changing the environment in some way that promotes his behavior. At this point i think i would still monitor him a while.

I would assume some parasite or illness could be in your tank.

My Coral Beauty acts like he is on speed. He antagonizes fish and then takes off to the other side of the tank and then back and forth. If he doesn't just explode one day, ill be shocked.

So got home from work and coral beauty is dead...

3 weeks ago magnificent fox face.
Now coral beauty.

No signs of wounds
No signs of illness
No bullying

Very confused...

Have you added anything to your tank lately? What's your quarantine protocol?

Seems like you've got a parasite or illness in your tank.

Have not added anything for over a month.

Coral beauty has been with me since November. It was in QT for 8 weeks after a small ich outbreak. Re-introduced at the beginning of January. All was well until 3 days ago...

I have 2 clowns and 1 2" blue hippo that are eating and acting perfectly normal...

What's the protocal now??? Just wait and see? There was absolutely nothing visibly wrong with the coral beauty.

No new coral or other wet stuff?

I'm not an expert, but I've read that both velvet and flukes can kill without obvious outward symptoms. I would have thought that velvet would have shown up earlier. But maybe flukes? What medication did you use in QT? When you said you hadn't added anything new, did that include coral or inverts?

I'm concerned about your other fish.

Yes that inclues corals, inverts and fish.

My LFS treated them for Ich and held them in a QT tank for me. Everyone came back healthy...eating well.. social... I'm not sure what meds they used in QT
