I am setting up a new tank measuring 48x18x18 that will be mainly sps and clams. Will probably have 2 lps that my wife like. I have looked at RC post on lighting, mainly dealing with 250watt MH, MH ballasts, and reflector studies seen in Advanced Aquarist. I then went back to your book to see your thoughts. I was leaning toward 2x250 Mh with Vho or even 2x400 Mh with vho as I already have one 400 mh set up from a previous setup. I was surprised to see that you recommend two to four 175 watt MH on a 4 ftt SPS tank. Is this still your recommendation or have you changed your mind? I need to make some decision soon as my new tank arrives next week. I know this is a hot topic, but looking for unbiased ( not working for lighting company) opinion.
