coral farm in ohio

Reefsystems is Always a good place to shop. Every columbus trip I make I hit his place then I make the 10 minute drive over to Phishy's place.

Have not been there yet, but can't wait to go. I would just hate to make the trip to find only really high priced frags. But I hear that it's pretty reasonable.

So how do you really feel shawn...lol

I've always walked out with a few things while there. I think C-sea should plan a road trip on down, hit there and serdars then some lunch and back to Cleveland

I liked the place, I think its great to have a store with a ton of stock. SPS, clams, softies, zoas. They had cheap reef crystals which was a plus. They maybe didnt have a ton of rare named corals but they had tons of different items. I'm lucky enough to have family down that way so I get to go every so often.

My parents live in Columbus in between both reef systems and phishy so every trip down I get to stop by both places. Love both would love to have something like either one close to me up here.

has nice stuff just wont sell it to you !!!

Well if I remember correctly Sean went down there with cash in hand planning on picking up a bunch of pieces for his new system, and it seemed everything he inquired about wasn't for sale.

I felt his pain as well. Tons of beautiful pieces in plain sight, but not for sale. I enjoyed getting to experience everything that he has going on there, but if I was to go there again, I would call ahead to make sure he has nice stuff that he's ready to sell.

Marc took a lot of pictures when we were there. I think he has one of the little "Not for sale" sign... that seemed to apply to everything we asked about.

They do have a pretty big variety of corals, and the prices I saw seemed fair, but it probably depends on what you're looking for. I picked up a nice Blue Acro frag for $20 or $25.

YOu'll get that not for sale thing in all the green houses I know of. They find a nice piece and want to grow it out before selling. I guess timing is everything. I never was turned away with anything I picked out. I have high tastes when it comes to corals too. Ive been 5 times, always felt Todd went out of his way to touch base with everyone in there and answer questions for everyone as well.

+1

Hey Kreeger, are those magnets I linked to the same as the ones I gave you?

I'm near Columbus near Reef Systems. Agreed on the frustration of things not being for sale. It causes me not to go back very often...but the reality is he's trying to propogate those nice pieces for future availability. Can't argue that I guess...but it is frustrating.

they need to separate the not for sale from the sale items , not in different tanks , but in different ends of the tanks , one end for sale , the other end for his colonies , this keeps them in the same water when they frag them and everyone in the building knows whats for sale or not , the place in Romulus MI does the same ,i have been to both several times and still don't get my hopes up when i see a super nice coral in the tanks that i want . 90 % of the time ,,its not for sale. i still love both places and will go back to both . but i don't like the game they play with the not for sale stuff just so you will stay at the tanks looking , it keeps you in their place longer . I dont know the guys up in Michigan , but Todd is a great guy and very helpful every time i have been down there .

all I have to say is I walked in with over 600 bucks to spend and walked out Minus nothing from my stash ....end of story I was offering good money for things and he clearly didnt want it ...I even went to go as far as to say how much for a few things ..in my book everything is for sale ...he wasnt pl;aying ball so I left pretty pist off to say the least ..

I guess, but I see it from his point too, why selling something for 80 today when in 2 months he can sell it for 80 5-10 times.

Again, maybe he liked me maybe I got lucky. Who knows. Nice place to look I think we all will agree on that. For sale?, hit or miss I've learned now.

I am so lucky since we moved down here to be 5 min from Phishy and 10 Min from Reef Systems and every time I have been to Reef Systems his not for sale items have been clearly marked by signs hanging over them and that changes on a weekly basis depending on how he has the tanks arranged , Todd is a great guy and we have walked away with some great frags that you do not normally find in most stores and at great prices also
