May's meeting will be a good one with Charles Mazel speaking on coral fluorescence. Here's a link to a Reef Keeping article on the subject, this will explain a good bit about the subject. A few years ago Anthony Calfo was kind enough to let me borrow his photography filters while we were visiting Joe Burger after the first NERAC. I took a few pictures of Joe's tank using fluorescence photography. The idea is that you use a special spectrum of light that excites the flourescent pigments in corals and use a special filter (the yellow glasses that Vinny mentioned) to filter out extraneous light spectrum. The results are quite fascinating. Since I promised to post some photo's, here they are.

Last couple of meetings, Vinny mentioned that Charles Mazel was willing to bring sets of lights and glasses for anyone that wanted a set for 10% discount IIRC. I ordered a set of filters for my camera from Charlie, along with the light and glasses. If anyone else wants the light and glasses set (lots of fun), I believe Vinny will take care of ordering for delivery to the meeting.
