Coral for Black Onyx Percula

Does anyone know of a suitable host coral for the black onyx percula? I would rather not get an anemone and limit my ability to stock the rest of the tank with other soft corals. I found a link somewhere awhile back that had husbandry for each clown, but I can't find it anymore.

BTW - this is for a 29gal. that has a purple firefish, and will also have zoos, shrooms, and LPS, and has 72W of 10K and 72W of actinic on it.

Thanks

full grown onyx will need a full grown anemone for a host or a large large coral
the corals that work are open brains, frogspawns, hammers, and large leather corals like a big toadstool leather

How big do they get? Everything that I have read says that the black onyx only gets about 3". Is a 29 big enough for a pair?

you will be fine in a 30, honestly I would just stock the tank with the soft corals that you want and the clowns will most likely stock one of them. I hate seeing people spending lots of money for a host that their fish never look at. odds are your clowns will host a heater of suction tube or something dumb like that. they pick out what they want to live in.

chemist you will be fine with a bta, let it settle in a place before stocking further with other softies. etc

you are correct, 3 inches is about the full size.

they do not need a "full" grown anemone. they will host in a bta that is 2 inches.
