A huge thanks from all of us at Pittsburgh marine aquarium society to Gary and Karen from Elmer's Aquarium for the deeply discounted corals, donations, and hosting this evenings coal frag workshop. Without them, none of this would have been possible.

+1 = without the local stores the club would not be a feasible entity.

Thanks Elmer's....

Wow - maybe 75 frags were made...and raffled off. No one left without a frag.

We can all thank:

Jamie - who did all the shopping, buying, housing until last night, and transporting of all the corals for the event.

The people ( club officers and there wives - sorry I am terrible at names) who brought equipment and who did the actual fraging, helped with the raffle, etc.

I screwed up and went out to eat afterwards and I think the frags got too cold in the vehicle- STUPID!! Darn it- I even almost took my cooler in with me- but I only ordered an appetizer ( nachos) - but that took forever to get and I actually got my food last. The only thing that looks good is the Anemone's - which you would think would be the most sensitive. Thank goodness I had Mark take 90 % of the stuff we got on the big frag pack purchase. Hopefully his are fairing better than mine. Weird that the anemone's are looking good and nothing else is.

my pocillipora is gone... The acros seem ok for now... not sure how they will fare- even with going straight home in the styrofoam cooler- mine seemed to have gotten cold... not sure if that did it or not. but if it is worth mentioning- in the cup of my pocillipora- the water was brown when I got home- so nit sure if something was going on before hand with it or maybe it just didn't travel well...

I have green Ponci and so does Jamie = so don't sweat that coral- but if you keep the others alive- then You may be fraging for others as everyone seems to be having issues.

Yeah seem to be budding my dragon zoas like crazy in my 5 gallon- just hoping they survive the move to the 30 as well.

It has come to our attention that there was a problem with the water that we used during the coral fragging workshop. We mistakenly used the wrong jug of water. Due to this mistake corals perished. Unfortunately this was an unforeseen and unfortunate honest mistake.
We value our members time and donations and ask that you give us the chance to make it right. On April 23rd we are going to bring new colonies and cut them up as we did this past Saturday. We ask that if you won any raffles that you bring back your labeled cup lids so that we can offer you replacements. We cannot guarantee the exact coral as we are at the mercy of what is available to purchase, but will do our best to try to make species to the best of our abilities. Thank you for your understanding in this matter

We will start cutting up coral at 5pm August 23rd and will be available for pickup at Elmer's Aquarium between 5pm - 7pm

+1, to the leadership of the club for owning the mistake ,not pointing fingers, and making their best effort to " make it right" . Not to get preachy, but this type of behavior is rare and I for one, really appreciate it.

I'm going to second Ted's comment. The Club's openness and commitment to correcting this unfortunate (and very human) mistake has impressed me. I'm happy to be a member and I look forward to supporting future events.
