My question is, why cant they just grow the frags on the seafloor, attached to a rock? Will they become covered in sediment if they are too small?

I assume that reef had been killed by trolling/nets?

Jack, Yeah that's part of the South Pacific series that showed on the Discovery channel, it's similar to the Planet Earth series but just deals with one area. And yes it's stunning to watch on HD on a TV

What a fantastic idea!
Well 6 months out in the ocean with right nutrients and temp they will grow.
Some of us I'm sure see big growth in our tanks w/ the right nutrients and temp.
Whats interesting is that they mention over crowding and "harvesting."
We over crowd our tanks and harvest cuttings into frags.
There you go the hobby industry has taught something of value.
