Coral ID and feedback please

I've had this coral for about 7 months now. In my opinion it seems fine, with about 2" of growth. I'm more worried about the ID so I can pay alittle more attention to what I'm looking for (ie bleaching, polyp extension, growth). I want to kinda use this as a base to see if I can introduce more SPS corals to my tank.

The rock that it's attached to now was an existing SPS coral that looks like it died. I picked the rock up as a piece of LR, but inspecting it, it looks as if it was a SPS coral. IF all goes well, what other type of beginner level SPS can I introduce ??

Current params and tank info-

250w 14k phoenix
Aqua C remora pro skimmer (no sump or fuge unfortunantely)
TLF reactor with rowaphos (phosphates reading 0ppm)
SG - 1.025
Nitrates- 0 (salifert test kits are kinda hard to read, but definantly no color on the test kits)
CAl - 460
KH/ALK - 7.2
MG- 1275
Dose daily a 2 part solution (ESV B-Ionic)
10g PWC weekly

Thanks

Would you say that it looks ok ?? Does it need work ?? I've very new to SPS, but have had alot of success with LPS and other corals.

Thanks

Photos can be decieving but it looks browned out to me. This is usually due to excess nutrients in the tank, but could also be due to other factors. I would make sure your nutrients stay on the low side and focus on keeping your alk as stable as possible.

Besides that it looks ok, when you see no polyp extension or there are signs of tissue recession, thats when you know it's not a happy camper.

Thank you for the feedback. Its alittle on the brown side, but has the same coloration as i'm seeing on google images/liveaquaria. I'll keep monitoring it and definantly monitor my alk alittle closer now.

Thanks again !!

Until yesterday (05/30) it was about 4" from the surface (so about 12" under 250w of MH). I moved it to the "middle level" of my tank, so its now about 18" from the lights.

I think you will start to get the nice green back soon. Looks like it was to close to the lights. Give it a few weeks at 18" and see what happens.

Ok thanks. Both of those corals look almost the same. After looking at the pocillopora, it tends to have some of the same shapes/colors. Both look exactly the same, but the polyps look more like the pocillopora.

Is this the same coral? Sorry for the washed out iphone photo.

Mine's more of a ballish shape, but that could be from where I had it located in my tank. Very little verticle pieces, mostly outwards and blunt.

Yours is the same color as my yellow pocci except your tips are kinda more white, maybe the light issure you guys were talking about.

Mine started as a little ball to. Its hard to judge the size in the pic but its about 7" across. Its a little bigger then a softball right now. Keep an eye on this coral as it grows older as it naturally spawns very easily. One coral will turn into 100.

After moving this down 6" in my tank, it has considerably lightened up. More of a pinkish base now instead of a dull tan. Polyp extension is the most that i've seen since i've had it.

Thanks for the advice !!
