Coral Line Algae Turning white

Anyone know why they are turning white? Here are my parameters for my tank:

Alk - 9.5
Calc- 390
Mag - 1300
Ph - 8
Phos - .001
Salinity 1.025

I would try and raise calcium to 450 and magnesium to 1350

yea I've been trying to do that but it takes forever to raise calcium. I am using B-ionic part 1 and 2 but i can't seem to get the calcium over 400.

it means its dying but it doesn't mean its dead. if it was removed from the water for a short period of time it will kill parts of the coraline. its okay just give it some time. actually scrape some of it off in front of a pump and it'll grow like weeds. but +1 to upping your calc and mag

The coral line was never out of the water. The ones on the bottom of my tank is also turning white. I'll try to raise up the mag and calc to see if it gets any better.

its coralline algae... one word. Most likely your calcium is low

if your calcium is fine it has to be the magnesium level. I had that problem when I first started the hobby and adding some epsom salts did the trick. Coraline is made out of 40 percent magnesium.

Definitely your Cal is too low but Coralline algae to really flourish need good levels of Mag. Increase that and watch the color come back and grow like crazy. Also make sure your water flow is good as most species of this type of algae like good water flow.

Also raise your PH a bit that will help. Should be 8.1 to 8.2 for best results.

Coraline is an algae and needs Phosphates to grow.If the Phos # above is correct,then You need to raise the level up too .02-.03 ppm.

Do you really need phosphates? I thought we try to keep the levels as low as possible?

The coralline on the top of my LR has bleached but it's nice and purple on the sides, etc. My Ca and Mg levels are fine, dose w/BRS recipes. I thought it might be too much light but 3D-Reef's post made me wonder since I run a carbon/GFO reactor. Am I reducing phosphate levels too much? But then wouldn't ALL my coralline algae bleach and not just the stuff on the top of the LR?
